Greg is a co-founder of Flywheel Energy, LLC and Valorem Energy, LLC, both headquartered in Oklahoma City. He currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer of both Flywheel Energy and Flywheel Bakken and is a Member of the Board of Managers for both companies.
Flywheel Energy is a private energy company formed to acquire and operate large, producing onshore U.S. oil and natural gas assets with an emphasis on the Rockies and Mid-Continent. Since its inception in 2017, Flywheel entities have made over $2.1 billion of acquisitions and was recently recognized as the 6th largest private energy company in the United States by Oil and Gas Investor.
Flywheel Bakken began as Valorem Energy in March 2017 with a $300 million initial equity commitment from the Kayne Private Energy Income Funds (“KPEIF” or the “KPEIF Platform”). In 2017, Valorem acquired interests in the Williston Basin for $285 million from Linn Energy. In August 2018, the KPEIF Platform committed a second time to the management team with $700 million of equity in the newly formed Flywheel Energy. In December 2018, Flywheel Energy acquired Southwestern Energy’s integrated Fayetteville Shale Business for a purchase price of $1.865 billion.
Seven months after closing on the Fayetteville acquisition, Flywheel Bakken sold 100% of its assets to publicly traded Northern Oil & Gas and is currently one of the company’s largest shareholders.
Today, Flywheel Energy operates ~4,000 natural gas wells in Arkansas with gross production of ~1 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day. Flywheel also owns and operates a ~2,000-mile natural gas gathering pipeline system as well as the associated compression assets.
Prior to co-founding Flywheel and Valorem, Greg was a Principal at Owl Rock Capital Partners in New York, where he was a senior member of the originations and investments team focused on sourcing and evaluating credit investments across the energy, services and industrials sectors. Prior to joining Owl Rock, Greg served as the Director of Finance and Head of Capital Markets at American Energy Partners in Oklahoma City, a multi-billion platform of oil and natural gas assets. Prior to American Energy Partners, Greg spent over seven years in New York working for Goldman, Sachs & Co. in various investment banking roles focused on Global Natural Resources, where he was most recently a Vice President in the Natural Resources Financing Group.
Greg earned a Bachelor of Science in Business from Babson College in 2007 and was a member of the Men’s varsity ice hockey team for all four of his years at the college.
